Texas Sends Third Bus of Migrants to Los Angeles in a Month

Los Angeles received another busload of migrants from Texas, marking the third such arrival in a month. Mayor Karen Bass's office confirmed the arrival, which occurred around 12:40 p.m. local time at Union Station. Spokesperson Zach Seidl stated the city activated its established plan, coordinating with city departments, non-profits, and faith-based organizations to provide support. While the exact number of migrants wasn't initially disclosed by the mayor's office, the Los Angeles Times reported it to be approximately 35 individuals.

This recent arrival follows two similar incidents within the past month. Around 30 migrants arrived at St. Anthony’s Croatian Church in Chinatown approximately a month ago, and roughly 40 migrants arrived at the same location earlier this month. These actions are part of Texas Governor Greg Abbott's strategy to highlight the situation at the southern border by transporting migrants to cities with more liberal political leanings. Governor Abbott initiated this practice in August of last year and has pledged to continue until the federal government addresses what he considers an immigration crisis.

This ongoing effort by Governor Abbott has drawn both support and criticism, sparking a national debate about immigration policy and border security.
