During the New York Yankees' 6-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, shortstop Anthony Volpe found himself in an unusual situation. In the bottom of the eighth inning at Coors Field, a fan ran onto the field from left field and approached Volpe, throwing a shirt at him. It appeared the fan intended to give the shirt to Volpe, who backed away from the advancing individual.

Security swiftly intervened and tackled the fan. Volpe later commented, "I was quite surprised by the whole thing. He was saying something, but I couldn't make out the words. I think the stadium security handled the situation very well." Yankees manager Aaron Boone observed that the fan seemed upset, unlike the typical "drunk idiot running out having fun on a bet." He remarked, "He looked like he was mad at something."

While this incident unfolded, the Yankees secured their win, improving to 50-43 on the season. Giancarlo Stanton hit his fourth home run in as many games, also reaching the 1,000 RBI milestone. Stanton's three-run homer highlighted a five-run second inning that propelled the Yankees to victory. Boone praised Stanton's recent performance, stating, "He's definitely swinging better. Most of us in this room have seen him dialed in… But I feel like the last 10 days, two weeks, he definitely continues to move in the right direction." Meanwhile, the Rockies' record dropped to 35-58. Volpe himself finished the game 0-for-3 at the plate, with a run scored and a walk.
