Tragedy struck Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood Tuesday night as a four-year-old boy lost his life in a hit-and-run incident. Around 9:30 p.m., the young child was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene. An off-duty firefighter was the first to reach the injured child and provided immediate assistance. Emergency medical services rushed the boy to a local hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu expressed her grief, calling the incident a "horrible tragedy" and emphasizing the devastation of the event. At a late-night news conference near the accident site, she pleaded with the public for any information that could help the investigation.

Law enforcement officials are actively seeking witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area. Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden echoed Mayor Wu's plea, urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist the investigation. The search for the driver responsible for this tragic incident continues.
