Trump Declines to Deport Prince Harry, Criticizes Meghan Markle

Former President Trump has stated he has no intention of deporting Prince Harry, despite the ongoing legal battle surrounding the prince's immigration records. In a recent interview with the New York Post, Trump dismissed the idea, stating he wouldn't pursue deportation, adding, "He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible." This comment reignites Trump's past criticism of Meghan Markle, whom he previously labeled "nasty" for her remarks about him during his first presidential term.

The Heritage Foundation's lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security seeks the release of Harry's immigration records, alleging potential discrepancies regarding past drug use disclosed in Harry's memoir, "Spare." The lawsuit questions whether Harry was truthful on his immigration forms or received preferential treatment. Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, stating that "no one should be above the law." He previously advocated for Trump to release the records, citing his authority to do so.

Split of Trump and Harry and Meghan

A federal judge recently indicated a likelihood of releasing Harry's immigration files "to the maximum extent possible," while respecting privacy laws. This follows Trump's campaign-era statements suggesting "appropriate action" should be taken if Harry was found to have been dishonest on his immigration forms. Trump also accused the Biden administration of shielding Harry, contrasting his own stance by saying Harry would "be on his own" under his leadership. While maintaining a critical view of Harry's actions towards the Queen, which he deemed "unforgivable," Trump's recent decision against deportation appears to mark a shift in his approach.

Harry and Meghan at the Invictus Games

In contrast to his criticism of Harry and Meghan, Trump praised Prince William, calling him a "great young man." This follows a meeting between Trump and William in Paris during the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. This encounter further highlights the strained relationship between the brothers, a feud that has been widely publicized.
