Former President Donald Trump delivered his first rally-style address since the election at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. The four-day event, touted as a cornerstone of the conservative movement, saw Trump take a victory lap following his recent electoral win and offer a glimpse into his upcoming administration.

Speaking from the Phoenix Convention Center stage, Trump declared his administration would be "fully operational" by January 20th. He revisited familiar themes, promising a robust economy, renewed focus on domestic energy production ("drill, baby, drill"), and a hardline stance on immigration, including what he termed the "largest deportation operation in American history." He also pledged an advertising campaign to combat drug use, particularly fentanyl.

Trump called for the return of the Panama Canal to U.S. control, emphasizing its strategic importance for American commerce and naval operations. He pointed out the U.S. is the primary user of the canal, arguing its historical construction and usage justify its return.

Addressing border security, Trump highlighted concerns about both the northern and southern borders, claiming significant influxes of people and drugs. He also discussed the recent government shutdown, expressing dissatisfaction with the final bill passed by Congress, despite not speaking publicly about it since its passage.

Trump reiterated his support for Pete Hegseth as his Secretary of Defense, despite allegations against Hegseth. He also highlighted other cabinet picks, including Pam Bondi for Attorney General and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services, focusing on Kennedy's stance on autism.

Continuing with familiar campaign themes, Trump promised to reverse Biden's energy policies, end the electric vehicle mandate, and address what he calls "transgender lunacy" in schools and the military. He also quoted his mother's description of Democrats as "befuddled" following the election.

AmericaFest, a large-scale conservative gathering, reportedly sold over 21,000 tickets, exceeding the venue's 14,000-person capacity. Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk expressed honor at hosting Trump's first post-election rally speech at the event.
