Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's 2024 season has come to a premature end due to a lingering shoulder injury. The team announced the decision on Thursday, stating that Lamb will miss the final two games to begin his recovery process.
Lamb has been playing through an AC joint strain sustained in Week 9. However, after further evaluation and scans this week, the injury has progressed to a point where continued play is no longer feasible. While surgery isn't currently anticipated, Lamb will undergo treatment and rehabilitation with the expectation of a full recovery.

The Cowboys' elimination from playoff contention influenced the decision to prioritize Lamb's long-term health. Team owner Jerry Jones had previously stated that the choice to play would be left to Lamb, though the extent of the receiver's input in the final decision remains unclear.
Following the Cowboys' recent victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lamb acknowledged the severity of his shoulder issue, describing it as "out of whack." He emphasized his commitment to playing through the pain, saying, "I’m just out there battling and doing what I gotta do."

Lamb's 2024 season concludes with another impressive performance, marking his fourth consecutive year with at least 1,100 receiving yards. He tallied 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games. This achievement is notable considering the absence of starting quarterback Dak Prescott for a significant portion of the season due to injury. Lamb developed a solid connection with backup quarterback Cooper Rush, contributing to the Cowboys' strong finish to the season, winning four of their last five games. However, their 7-8 record ultimately fell short of securing a playoff berth.

Lamb will now focus on his rehabilitation and prepare for the 2025 season, with the Cowboys hoping for a healthier and more successful campaign.
