Massachusetts authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with separate assaults on state troopers during traffic stops just days apart. The first incident unfolded on July 5th in Wakefield, where a trooper stopped 19-year-old Colin James Webb for erratic motorcycle operation. Dashcam footage appears to show Webb attempting to ride towards the trooper, who narrowly escaped being struck by an oncoming vehicle. Webb was later arrested on July 7th, facing charges including assault and battery of a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The second incident occurred on July 7th in Tewksbury. A trooper stopped 24-year-old Hernan Aybar Romero and discovered outstanding warrants for alleged trafficking of heroin, morphine, opium, and fentanyl. During the arrest, Romero allegedly assaulted the trooper and fled the scene. He was apprehended on Tuesday and faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, assault and battery of a police officer, malicious destruction of property, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The trooper was treated for injuries and released from a local hospital.

Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel John Mawn Jr. condemned the attacks, emphasizing their commitment to holding those who commit violence against law enforcement accountable. He stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of both officers and civilians.
