Kenosha, Wisconsin was the scene of a tragic incident on Monday where a man and his dog were found stabbed to death in their home. This grim discovery occurred just hours after police had initially responded to a break-in report at the same residence.
The Kenosha Police Department received the first call around 11:42 a.m. The homeowner reported a possible intrusion and a damaged back door. Officers investigated but found no one inside at that time. They documented the complaint and gathered evidence.

A few hours later, at approximately 2:32 p.m., police were called back to the residence. This time, the caller reported seeing blood near the forced-open back door. Upon arrival, officers found the deceased man with an apparent stab wound in the basement. The homeowner's dog was also found with a similar injury and died shortly after.

A SWAT team secured the scene as detectives launched a homicide investigation. 41-year-old Justin Tercek was identified as a person of interest and was later apprehended while walking in an alley that evening.

The victim, a 52-year-old man, has not yet been publicly identified. Police are withholding his name out of respect for his family. The connection, if any, between Tercek and the victim remains unclear.
