A North Carolina family's joyful snow day turned to tragedy after their young son lost his life in a sledding accident. While enjoying the fresh snowfall in Whitsett on Saturday, Ayden Sasser's sled veered into a pond, trapping him beneath the ice. The Guilford County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident, withholding the child's exact age.
Distressing 911 calls reveal the chaotic moments following the accident. A woman's voice pleads with the operator, describing the thin ice and bystanders' desperate attempts to reach the boy. She expresses concern for his well-being, fearing the worst after he was submerged for a significant period.

Although rescuers successfully pulled Ayden from the icy water, he tragically passed away later at a local hospital. Authorities are awaiting the medical examiner's report for the official cause of death. Two first responders and three civilians who assisted in the rescue also received medical evaluations but were later released.

Ayden's mother, Angel Nicole Sasser, shared a fundraising appeal on Facebook to help the family cope with the unexpected loss. In a heartfelt post, she expressed her profound grief and requested support and understanding from the community.
