Newborn Abandoned in Alleyway: Mother Sought by California Authorities

Authorities in Ventura, California are actively searching for a woman who abandoned her newborn baby in an alleyway shortly after giving birth. The incident unfolded early Friday morning when employees of Agostino's Bakery heard a woman's screams coming from a nearby alley. Upon investigation, they witnessed the woman giving birth and then leaving the newborn on the ground before fleeing the scene.

The bakery employees immediately intervened, providing care for the infant until paramedics arrived. One worker described seeing blood on the baby's face and ensuring the newborn's airway was clear. The infant was then transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police believe the mother may be experiencing homelessness. They are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact them immediately. Authorities also highlighted California's Safe Surrender program, which allows parents to anonymously relinquish newborns within 72 hours of birth without fear of prosecution.
