Melanie Hamrick, longtime partner of Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger, recently opened up about her debut erotic novel, "First Position," and the support she received from Jagger during the writing process. The former ballerina appeared on the U.K.'s "This Morning" to discuss the book, which Jagger playfully deemed "pretty saucy" in a recent Instagram post.

Hamrick addressed the dedication in her book, "To my love, thank you for your endless support and inspiration," confirming it was indeed intended for Jagger. She recounted how the musician encouraged her writing, stating he was "very supportive" and inspired her to pursue the project. She jokingly added that if the novel's content shocked him, she must have done a good job.

Drawing on her 16 years of experience with the American Ballet Theatre, Hamrick explained that "First Position" is set within the world of professional ballet. The novel follows the story of Sylvie Carter, a dancer whose career is disrupted by scandal. When a fellow dancer, Alessandro Russo, joins the company, Sylvie finds herself grappling with both attraction and apprehension as she navigates her complex emotions and past experiences.

When questioned about the autobiographical elements within the novel's steamy scenes, Hamrick clarified that while she drew inspiration from stories and experiences she'd encountered during her time in the ballet world, the book is not a memoir. She humorously wished she'd had as much excitement in her own life as her protagonist.

Hamrick also shared that her and Jagger's son, Deveraux, has inherited a natural flair for dance. She described how both parents enjoy watching him move and that he possesses an intuitive approach to dance, preferring to "feel it" rather than be taught specific steps.
