Buttigieg's New Hampshire Radio Appearance Fuels 2028 Speculation

Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, recently appeared on a New Hampshire talk radio program, sparking further discussion about a potential 2028 presidential bid. This appearance, on the heels of the recent election, is drawing attention as the very early stages of the 2028 Democratic presidential primary begin to take shape.

Buttigieg, who ran for president in 2020, has made numerous radio appearances nationwide during his time as Transportation Secretary, including several in New Hampshire, a state known for its early presidential primary. This latest appearance on "New Hampshire Today" is adding fuel to the 2028 speculation.

When asked about his future plans after his term ends on January 20th, Buttigieg mentioned a desire for some vacation time with his spouse and children. He stated he's "determined not to make any life decisions too quickly in the new year," but added that he would "find ways to make myself useful," suggesting a possible run for office is not out of the question.

Buttigieg, who previously served as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, exceeded expectations in his 2020 presidential campaign. He narrowly won the Iowa caucuses and came in a close second in the New Hampshire primary before ultimately endorsing Joe Biden.

He has made several official and political visits to New Hampshire in recent years, including headlining the New Hampshire Democratic Party's fundraising gala. He has also been a frequent presence on Fox News, promoting the Biden administration's initiatives and serving as a surrogate for both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during the recent campaign.

Having moved from Indiana to Michigan, Buttigieg has also faced calls from Michigan Democrats to run for governor in 2026, but he has remained noncommittal about his future political plans.
