Hamas Returns Shiri Bibas' Remains After Outrage Over Misidentified Body

Following intense scrutiny and demands from Israel, Hamas has reportedly returned the body of Shiri Bibas. The remains were transferred via the Red Cross and will undergo identification at Israel's National Institute of Forensic Medicine. This comes after a previous transfer included a misidentified body, sparking anger and grief in Israel. Shiri Bibas, along with her two young children, Ariel and Kfir, and retired journalist Oded Lifshitz, were among the hostages tragically killed by Hamas. The children's bodies were positively identified in an earlier transfer, but the body initially believed to be Shiri's was not hers. The IDF has confirmed the heartbreaking news that the young children were murdered by hand, not by gunfire, as previously thought, adding another layer of horror to the tragedy. The IDF is providing support to the grieving Bibas family. This incident follows a prisoner exchange as part of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. Yarden Bibas, the children's father and Shiri's husband, was previously released in a separate exchange. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow and vowed that Hamas would be held accountable. The Hostages and Missing Families forum condemned the brutality of Hamas, highlighting the inhumane conditions faced by remaining hostages. International figures like Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the UN, also denounced Hamas's actions.
