Former ICE Director Tom Homan has delivered a strong message to sanctuary cities and states opposing the Trump administration's renewed focus on deportations. In an appearance on "Fox & Friends," Homan warned officials obstructing these efforts that they are inviting increased federal presence and arrests.
Homan emphasized the administration's commitment to public safety, stating that ICE operations in sanctuary cities will inevitably lead to the apprehension of not only targeted individuals but also others present illegally. He framed this as a consequence of the cities' non-cooperation.
Homan directly addressed Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, who has been critical of Trump's immigration policies. He rejected her characterization of detention centers as "concentration camps" and defended ICE's standards as the highest in the industry. He also highlighted the recent death of a Border Patrol agent in Vermont, questioning Mayes' priorities in light of such incidents.

Homan underscored the significant drop in border apprehensions since Trump's inauguration, attributing it to the administration's renewed focus on border security. He cited a figure of 766 apprehensions in the past 24 hours, contrasting it with the thousands reported daily under the Biden administration. Furthermore, Homan reported that ICE arrested over 308 serious criminals within a 24-hour period, highlighting the agency's focus on public safety threats.

Homan reiterated the importance of border security for both public safety and national security, arguing that a secure border reduces sex trafficking and prevents deaths during border crossings. He contrasted this with what he described as a rise in these issues under the Biden administration.
