Radio icon Mike Francesa, a familiar voice in the New York and New Jersey area, recently shared his perspective on the mysterious drone sightings plaguing New Jersey. Known for his outspoken style, Francesa addressed a fan's question on the topic, offering a skeptical view of official explanations.
"I'm not a UFO believer," Francesa stated, "but I also don't buy the government's casual dismissal of these incidents. Claims about foreign vessels operating off our coast seem far-fetched – we'd know immediately if that were the case. No foreign power is flying unchecked over US territory."
Francesa speculated that the drones might be linked to commercial testing by companies like Amazon or even covert military exercises. He expressed concern over the government's seemingly dismissive attitude, suggesting it implies more than they are letting on. "Their insistence that there's nothing to worry about is precisely what makes me suspicious," he remarked.
This comes after a joint statement by the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, FAA, and Department of Defense asserted that the sightings posed no threat to national security. They attributed the observations to a mix of commercial, hobbyist, and law enforcement drones, as well as misidentified conventional aircraft and celestial objects. Despite claiming no current risk, these agencies have urged Congress to expand counter-drone legislation to address potential future threats.
