Following accusations of demanding sexual favors from a subordinate in return for overtime opportunities, former top NYPD official Jeffrey Maddrey's residence was among several locations subjected to search warrants on Thursday. This action comes after Maddrey's resignation last month from his position as the highest-ranking uniformed officer in the NYPD. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the searches, initiated under her directive, are part of an ongoing investigation into the allegations by the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies.
Maddrey's accuser, identified as the NYPD's highest earner in the 2024 fiscal year with over $400,000 in earnings, predominantly from overtime, filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The complaint alleges "quid pro quo sexual harassment," claiming Maddrey coerced her into unwanted sexual acts for increased overtime opportunities. Maddrey, through his legal representation, has refuted these claims, characterizing the relationship as consensual and denying any misconduct.

The U.S. Attorney's office declined to comment, and Commissioner Tisch directed all inquiries to them. This investigation follows a separate incident where ten people were injured in a shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, on Wednesday. Although this event occurred prior to the search of Maddrey's home, it underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the NYPD.
