Newly released text messages have shed light on the troubled marriage of Suzanne Morphew, the Colorado mother who vanished in 2020. The messages reveal that both Suzanne and her husband, Barry Morphew, were involved in extramarital affairs before her disappearance.
Suzanne's messages to a man identified as a former high school sweetheart express deep affection and a desire for a future together. In contrast, messages to her husband accuse him of infidelity and emotional and physical abuse. Just days before she vanished, Suzanne texted Barry that she was "done" with the marriage.

Further released communications reveal Suzanne confided in her sister and a close friend about the alleged abuse and manipulation she experienced, expressing anger and a desire to leave the marriage. She also voiced concerns about her husband's influence on their daughters.

Barry Morphew's attorney contends that the prosecution's portrayal of events is incomplete and biased, emphasizing that Suzanne's two-year affair was not fully investigated. The attorney also argues that Suzanne's claims of physical abuse referred to weakness from cancer treatments. Barry maintains his innocence and has filed a lawsuit against prosecutors alleging a violation of his civil rights.

While the murder charges against Barry Morphew were dropped in 2022, the circumstances surrounding Suzanne's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery. The newly released text messages provide a glimpse into the complex dynamics of their relationship, adding another layer to this ongoing investigation.
