Music icon Elton John's new documentary, "Elton John: Never Too Late," available on Disney+, reveals his pivotal role in the reconciliation of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Their friendship, sparked by a commercial shoot in 1973, blossomed into a close bond filled with laughter and shared experiences. John admired Lennon's forward-thinking nature and passion for music and political involvement.

Their collaboration on the 1974 hit "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" cemented their friendship. A bet between them led to Lennon's surprise appearance at John's Thanksgiving concert at Madison Square Garden, a performance Lennon was incredibly nervous about. Unbeknownst to Lennon, Ono was in the audience, a secret orchestrated by John's team.

This concert proved to be a turning point. The overwhelming reception from the crowd, the shared stage, and the hidden presence of Ono rekindled the spark between Lennon and his wife. John believes this event played a crucial role in their reunion and the subsequent birth of their son, Sean, of whom John is the godfather.

Lennon's life took a positive turn after reuniting with Ono. He embraced fatherhood, leaving behind his wilder days. Sadly, their renewed happiness was tragically cut short by Lennon's murder in 1980, a devastating loss that deeply affected John. The documentary highlights the profound impact of this brief but significant friendship on both musicians' lives, emphasizing John's unintended yet crucial role in Lennon's personal journey.
