Andrew Hagar, son of rock legend Sammy Hagar, is making his own mark in the music world. The 39-year-old singer recently released his single "Systematic Minds," marking another step in his musical journey.
Sammy Hagar, the former Van Halen frontman, admitted his surprise at Andrew's chosen career path. He initially expected Andrew to pursue martial arts, a passion he had dedicated himself to for years. "He wasn't, like, always playing guitar when he was a kid," Sammy commented. "He was more of a martial artist."

However, Sammy was astonished by Andrew's musical talent when he finally heard him play. "It blew my mind how good his songs were, how good his lyrics and melodic sense were, and the fact that he played guitar," Sammy shared. He expressed immense pride in Andrew's accomplishments and rapid musical growth.

Andrew pinpointed a 2016 gig opening for Kris Kristofferson as the moment he knew music was his calling. The experience of performing at Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland, despite initial nerves, solidified his dedication to music.

Sammy, a seasoned lyricist himself, was particularly impressed by Andrew's songwriting. He recalled a specific lyric from Andrew's song "The Lucky One" – "the angel that fell through the power lines" – as a moment that gave him chills. He admired the depth and unique perspective in his son's writing.

While they have performed together, Sammy encourages Andrew to carve his own musical identity. He recognizes Andrew's distinct style and prefers that he focus on his own musical path rather than trying to emulate his father's sound.
Beyond music, Andrew spoke highly of his father's character and philanthropic efforts, particularly his support of the Children's Hospital of Orange County. He highlighted Sammy's dedication to helping others, often away from the public eye. Andrew emphasized the importance of hard work, a lesson instilled in him by his father.
