Young Woman Found Deceased After Online Date: Two Arrested

Authorities in North Carolina have apprehended a man and woman in connection with the death of an 18-year-old South Carolina resident. The victim, Kierstyn Williamson, was reported missing by her family on June 30th after meeting a man she connected with online. Williamson's remains were discovered on Wednesday, according to Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey.

Suspects in North Carolina Murder Case

25-year-old Joshua Newton has been charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. 22-year-old Victoria Smith faces charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact. Sheriff Cathey expressed his condolences to the victim's family and commended the dedication of the Union County Sheriff's Office in bringing those responsible to justice.

According to reports, Williamson met Joshua Newton through Facebook and agreed to accompany him to Carowinds. She was picked up from a Waffle House on June 30th. Later that evening, Williamson ceased responding to messages. A concerned individual reported her last known location as a house in Monroe, North Carolina, which subsequently became a focus of the investigation.
