Trump Honors Victims of Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants, Highlights Border Security Measures

During his address to a joint session of Congress, former President Donald Trump paid tribute to Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, two young victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. He emphasized the importance of border security and his administration's efforts to combat illegal immigration.

Trump highlighted the case of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was tragically murdered by Jose Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan national who had entered the U.S. illegally. Ibarra had been granted "parole" and later arrested in New York City for charges unrelated to Riley's murder. Trump underscored the dangers posed by individuals entering the country illegally and emphasized his commitment to strengthening border security.

Trump discussed the Laken Riley Act, legislation he signed into law to detain illegal immigrants arrested or charged with theft-related crimes or assaulting police officers. He touted his administration's efforts to secure the border and reduce illegal crossings, claiming to have achieved the lowest numbers ever recorded. He attributed this success to his leadership and policies.
