Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, recently embarked on their honeymoon to South Africa following a busy year for both. The couple, who officially married in April 2023, shared glimpses of their adventures on social media, including a heart-stopping moment during a safari excursion.

Biles documented a close encounter with a lion, admitting she was quite frightened as the animal strolled near their guided tour vehicle. The honeymoon trip provided a much-needed break after Biles' triumphant performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she secured four medals, boosting her total Olympic medal count to an unprecedented 11 for an American gymnast.

This achievement followed her challenging experience at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Biles finished as the runner-up for the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year award, trailing only WNBA star Caitlin Clark. Meanwhile, Owens signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears in March, after a season with the Green Bay Packers. He notably missed the start of training camp to support Biles during her Olympic journey and went on to score the Bears' first touchdown of the season in their opening game.

The couple's relationship began in 2020, culminating in an engagement two years later. Owens previously caused a stir online when he revealed he wasn't initially aware of Biles' fame when they connected on a dating app.
