Tragedy struck on Pakistan's Nanga Parbat, also known as "killer mountain", as a Polish climber, Pawel Tomasz Kopec, lost his life during descent. Kopec experienced breathing difficulties amidst challenging weather conditions while descending the formidable 26,660-foot peak with two companions. The other climbers are reportedly safe and making their way back to base camp. The fate of Kopec's remains is currently undetermined, pending discussions with his family. This incident follows the successful summit of Nanga Parbat by several climbers, including Pakistani mountaineers Naila Kiani and Samina Baig, just a day prior. In a separate incident, Pakistani climber Asif Bhatti is stranded on the mountain due to snow blindness, and rescue efforts are in progress. Nanga Parbat, along with K2, attracts numerous climbers annually, drawn to the challenge of these towering peaks in northern Pakistan.
