Mississippi Teen Escapee Captured: Two Remain at Large

One of the three Mississippi teenagers who escaped from a juvenile detention center over a week ago has been apprehended. Robert Earl Smith Jr., 16, was arrested in Yazoo City, Mississippi, on Monday evening, according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones. Smith, along with two other teens, escaped from the Henley-Young-Patton Juvenile Justice Center in Jackson, Mississippi on June 27th. He is facing murder charges related to the death of a Mississippi man in January.

Law enforcement officials, including sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals, located and arrested Smith approximately 48 miles from the detention center. The search continues for the remaining two escapees, 17-year-old Tayshon Holmes and 15-year-old Jashon Jones. Authorities are urging anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.
