Maccelli quickly proved his worth, ranking second among NHL rookies with 22 points before a lower-body injury briefly sidelined him in late December. Upon his return, the 22-year-old picked up right where he left off, ultimately tallying 11 goals and 38 assists in 64 games.
His impressive performance earned him a fourth-place finish in Calder Trophy voting, awarded to the NHL's top rookie. Maccelli's 49 points were second only to Seattle's Matty Beniers' 57 among rookies. Over his career, he has accumulated 12 goals and 43 assists in 87 NHL games.
