The New York Police Department is on the hunt for a unique robber they've nicknamed the "Haggler After Midnight." This individual, known for his unusual negotiation tactics during robberies, has become increasingly aggressive in his approach.
Since the beginning of November, this suspect has targeted 11 individuals in Brooklyn and Queens. The victims are typically Hispanic men between the ages of 20 and 40, often targeted during the early morning hours while returning from work.
According to Deputy Chief John Mastronardi of the NYPD's Crimes against Persons Unit, the robber converses with his victims in both English and Spanish, engaging in a distinctive form of bargaining. "His method of operation is quite peculiar. He engages in negotiations with his victims, which is why we've given him the moniker 'Haggler After Midnight,'" Mastronardi explained. "He often rejects items offered by the victims, preferring to select what he wants to steal."

The "Haggler After Midnight" primarily targets cash and electronic devices. He operates from a blue or dark-colored motorized scooter, typically brandishing a knife to intimidate his victims before taking their belongings, which include jewelry, phones, and other valuables.
The NYPD reports that the robber occasionally engages in conversation with his victims, seemingly to assess them. In some instances, he has asked for directions or inquired about their occupation.

The suspect's most recent robbery, which occurred on December 10th, marked a significant escalation in his tactics. Mastronardi revealed, "In the latest incident, the suspect held a knife to the victim's throat." Despite the increasing boldness of the attacks, fortunately, no injuries have been reported among the victims.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the "Haggler After Midnight" to contact Crime Stoppers. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the robber's arrest.
