A 32-year-old New Jersey resident, Breanna Beacham, has been formally charged with the murder of her mother, Kim Beacham-Hanson, 57, in their Willingboro home. Authorities allege that Beacham bludgeoned her mother to death. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced the charges on Tuesday, which include first-degree murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
Police responded to a call regarding an assault in progress at the residence on Hopewell Lane in the Hawthorne Park neighborhood shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they discovered Beacham-Hanson's body. Beacham, who was temporarily residing with her mother, was apprehended at the scene and subsequently detained at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly. A detention hearing is pending.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Beacham-Hanson suffered multiple blunt force injuries. An autopsy performed by the Burlington County Medical Examiner confirmed the manner of death as homicide, resulting from these injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the alleged attack.
