Lenee systematically refuted specific criticisms circulating online. She clarified her reaction following Colorado's victory over Oklahoma State, explaining that security restrictions preventing fans and family from joining players on the field were the source of her frustration, not anything more significant. She also addressed a clip from an Adidas event where she appeared to question her role, stating she was simply asking Hunter whether to stay with him or his family during a photoshoot with Adidas representatives.

Lenee also addressed the criticism regarding her reaction to Hunter's Heisman Trophy win. She explained her initial hesitation to stand, noting that Hunter's mother remained seated. Once Hunter rose, Lenee followed suit but then sat down again to avoid obstructing the camera's view of Hunter and his coach. She emphasized her desire to allow Hunter and his family to have their moment without her being in the spotlight.

Hunter himself defended Lenee on Twitch, criticizing those scrutinizing their relationship and urging them to focus on their own lives. He emphasized the longevity of their five-year relationship and warned against further negative commentary.
