The divorce proceedings between Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner, initiated in May after 18 years of marriage, continue to unfold with numerous unresolved issues. Baumgartner cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, indicating April 11 as the separation date.
A key point of contention revolves around the $145 million beachfront estate. A pre-marital agreement reportedly stipulated that Baumgartner vacate the property within 30 days of a divorce filing and not reside in any of Costner's properties. The court ordered Baumgartner to leave the estate, and she has since relocated to a temporary rental before moving into a more permanent, albeit still costly, rental property. Costner maintains that the children will reside in the home while under his custody.

Financial matters are another significant aspect of the divorce. Baumgartner initially sought $248,000 per month in child support but was awarded a tentative $129,755. A forensic accountant's report revealed Costner's substantial 2022 income, and Baumgartner has since requested an increased child support amount of $175,057, retroactive to July 1. She also seeks additional funds for legal and expert fees. Costner, for his part, has requested Baumgartner cover nearly $100,000 in legal fees related to enforcing the pre-nuptial agreement's residency clause and an additional $14,000 for her alleged refusal to answer discovery questions. He maintains that he has been attempting to make the divorce as seamless as possible for their children. The pre-nuptial agreement also reportedly included a provision for Baumgartner to receive a substantial sum upon marriage, which Costner claims has grown to $1.45 million for her use.

Both Costner and Baumgartner have filed for joint custody of their three children. The divorce proceedings are ongoing, with future hearings scheduled to address the remaining financial and custody matters. Costner denies any infidelity during the marriage and disputes the relevance of Baumgartner's request for information regarding any extramarital affairs.
