A 19-year-old man from central Indiana is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting at three sheriff's deputies during a June pursuit. Tarron H. Conwell was formally charged on Monday with three counts of attempted murder, resisting law enforcement, and a weapons-related misdemeanor.
The incident unfolded in Muncie, Indiana, on June 23rd. According to investigators, deputies were pursuing Conwell, who was wanted on an existing warrant, when he fled on foot. During the pursuit, Conwell allegedly fired at the officers, prompting one deputy to return fire. Remarkably, none of the deputies were injured by the gunfire, although a police vehicle was struck. One deputy reportedly used his vehicle to apprehend Conwell, potentially saving another officer on foot from harm.

Conwell sustained injuries during the incident and was initially hospitalized before being transferred to police custody last week. He is currently detained in Delaware County Jail with a bond set at $330,000. Following the June incident, Indiana State Police revealed that Conwell was also wanted for questioning in a separate case and had outstanding warrants in Madison County.
As of Tuesday, court records did not indicate legal representation for Conwell, and an initial hearing date had not been set.
