Florida Man Arrested for 35th Time After Car Theft and Police Chase

A Florida man with a lengthy criminal history added another arrest to his record just before Christmas. 31-year-old Kevin Campana was apprehended on Monday following an alleged car theft and attempted escape from law enforcement in Edgewater, Florida.

According to the Edgewater Police Department, Campana allegedly broke into a local auto repair shop and stole a customer's vehicle while barefoot. Body camera footage captured the ensuing high-speed chase, which culminated in a head-on collision with a police cruiser.

Campana now faces charges of burglary, grand theft, driving with a revoked license, and fleeing law enforcement. Volusia County inmate records reveal this is Campana's 35th arrest. He had been arrested just days prior on December 18th for attempted burglary and was out on bond at the time of this latest incident.

Campana's first arrest occurred on September 18, 2011, at the age of 18 on burglary charges. Since then, he has been arrested nearly every year for a variety of offenses including burglary, forgery, grand theft, and drug possession. His longest period of incarceration was over nine months, from December 31, 2019, to October 7, 2020, for a felony probation violation.
