Former Obama advisor David Axelrod expressed a willingness to see President Trump succeed in his second term during a recent CNN interview with Anderson Cooper. Axelrod stated that if Trump delivers on his promises – from lowering costs for Americans to addressing border security and crime – it would benefit the entire country. He emphasized that achieving positive outcomes is more important than political rivalries, drawing a contrast with Rush Limbaugh's past comments expressing a desire for Obama's failure.
Axelrod also highlighted the importance of bipartisan cooperation. While acknowledging Trump's history of combative rhetoric, particularly on social media, he suggested that finding common ground with Democrats would be beneficial for the president's agenda. He urged Trump to prioritize national interests over personal grievances and encouraged Democrats to reciprocate any good-faith efforts toward collaboration.

Echoing Axelrod's sentiment, other prominent Democrats, including Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), have advocated for bipartisan cooperation in the upcoming term. In a recent New York Times op-ed, Suozzi cautioned against reflexive opposition to Trump's agenda and encouraged Democrats to compromise where possible. He acknowledged the potential challenges in working with Trump but stressed the importance of finding common ground for the benefit of the nation.
