Unidentified Drones Over Northeast: Lawmaker Demands Answers Amidst Federal Inaction

For weeks, unidentified aerial objects, seemingly drones, have been observed traversing the northeastern U.S. airspace, raising concerns among citizens and prompting calls for government action. Despite the White House acknowledging the situation, a New Jersey representative is urging the federal government to address this potentially dangerous situation with greater urgency.

Rep. Chris Smith criticized the Pentagon's apparent lack of action, emphasizing the potential security risk posed by these unidentified drones. He stressed the importance of identifying the drones and determining their purpose, assuming a hostile intent until proven otherwise.

John Kirby pressed on drones over NJ amid escalating concerns: 'Why don't we know?'

The initial reports of these aerial objects emerged around November 18th, with nightly sightings continuing until approximately 11 p.m. The frequency of these sightings has varied significantly, ranging from a handful to nearly two hundred per night, based on information provided by law enforcement to New Jersey Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia. Residents of New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York, along with state and federal officials, are demanding clarity and action from the government.

While White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby recently stated that several of the reported sightings appear to be legally operated manned aircraft, he assured the public that there is currently no evidence suggesting a national security or public safety threat, nor any foreign involvement. Kirby explained that investigations are underway, employing advanced detection technologies, but these have not been able to validate the visual sightings. He further noted that the U.S. Coast Guard has found no evidence of foreign vessel involvement from the coast.

Rep. Smith expressed strong disagreement with Kirby's assessment, asserting that the situation warrants serious attention. While acknowledging the possibility of some sightings being conventional aircraft, Smith voiced suspicion that a nation-state actor, such as Russia, Iran, or China, might be involved.
