As football fans gear up for Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, those planning to travel to New Orleans are facing a significant price hike for accommodations. Hotels across the city, including budget-friendly options, have seen their rates skyrocket for the Super Bowl weekend.
A Motel 6 in downtown New Orleans, for example, listed standard rooms at $505 the night before the Super Bowl and $456 on game day, according to Hotels.com. These prices drop dramatically to $90 the following Monday and even lower to $71 during the off-season. Another Motel 6 location in the area showed similar trends, with rates around $300 for the key weekend nights, falling to $54 after the Super Bowl. A Motel 6 spokesperson clarified that individual property owners determine pricing based on market demand.

This price surge isn't limited to Motel 6. Many other budget hotels are also experiencing inflated prices, some more than tripling their usual rates. Fox News Digital reported that two-night stays during Super Bowl weekend range from $550 to upwards of $4,700. Super 8 by Wyndham near the French Quarter and Superdome showed rooms starting at $782.67 per night for a room with two double beds, with no availability remaining for the Super Bowl weekend. Similarly, Red Roof Inn New Orleans - Westbank listed rooms starting at $551 per night, and Quality Inn New Orleans I-10 East began at $724.
