Richard Allen, the prime suspect in the 2017 Delphi murders of teenagers Liberty German and Abigail Williams, has reportedly confessed to the crimes multiple times during phone calls with his wife and mother from prison. These revelations come from newly unsealed court documents in the case, which detail the prosecution's request for Allen's medical records.
Allen's defense attorney, Bradley Rozzi, acknowledged the confessions but argued that they are unreliable due to Allen's declining mental health behind bars. Rozzi described Allen's prison conditions as akin to a "prisoner of war," highlighting the suspect's deteriorating mental state.

Allen, a former CVS employee, was arrested in October 2022, five years after the girls were found murdered near the Delphi Historic Trail. German had captured images of a man on the trail with her cellphone, which became a crucial piece of evidence in the investigation. Prosecutors have linked Allen to the crime through an unspent bullet found at the scene, which they believe was cycled through his pistol.

The release of around 100 documents followed a petition by "The Murder Sheet" podcast hosts Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee. They advocated for transparency and public access to information, believing it would help dispel misinformation surrounding the case. The unsealed documents provide further insight into the ongoing legal proceedings and the challenges faced by both the prosecution and defense.

The case continues to unfold as the legal teams navigate the complexities of Allen's alleged confessions and his mental health status.
