Following the crash, officers extracted both Baker and the infant from the vehicle. Despite administering CPR and transporting them to a hospital, the young girl succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy later revealed she had been shot twice. Baker remains in critical condition.

The incident began when Baker allegedly confessed his disturbing thoughts to the child's mother. An off-duty officer spotted Baker's vehicle and alerted authorities, leading to the attempted traffic stop and subsequent chase. Baker drove erratically at high speeds before crashing into the residence.
