Two major forest fires that ravaged portions of the New Jersey Pinelands are now almost entirely under control, according to recent updates from authorities. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service announced on Sunday that containment efforts for both blazes burning in Burlington County have reached 90%.

One fire, located in Evesham Township, has expanded to slightly over a square mile. While initially posing a threat to nearby structures, officials report that the danger has subsided. The second fire, situated within the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, remains at 1.3 square miles and does not currently endanger any structures. Firefighting crews are concentrating on patrolling the fire lines and extinguishing any remaining hot spots.
