Fresh off his participation in the TGL simulator league alongside Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy kicked off his PGA Tour season with a spectacular hole-in-one at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. During Thursday's round at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, McIlroy aced the par-three 15th hole, sinking his 119-yard wedge shot directly into the cup.
This remarkable ace marks the second of McIlroy's professional career, the first occurring at the 2023 Travelers Championship. The world's third-ranked golfer, trailing only Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele, began his round on the back nine, bringing him to three-under par through six holes after the ace.
McIlroy is looking for a strong rebound this season after several near misses in major championships. He narrowly lost the U.S. Open last year to Bryson DeChambeau after a late stumble, and he was also edged out by Cameron Smith at the Open Championship the previous year.
The TGL, which launched earlier this week, features McIlroy, Woods, Justin Thomas, and Collin Morikawa as team captains, with other prominent PGA Tour players like Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Hideki Matsuyama, and Max Homa also participating.
