Kamala Harris Campaign Sought Wojnarowski for VP Announcement

Renowned NBA journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, formerly of ESPN, was reportedly the Harris campaign's choice to reveal Kamala Harris's running mate. Sports Illustrated's Chris Mannix revealed that the campaign contacted Wojnarowski in August, intending for him to announce Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as Harris's vice presidential pick.

Mannix's report indicates that another news outlet published the story before Wojnarowski had the opportunity. Just a month later, Wojnarowski departed from ESPN. The identity of the outlet that broke the news remains unclear.

The Harris campaign has not yet responded to requests for comment on this matter.

In a recent interview, Wojnarowski disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis, which occurred prior to his leaving ESPN for a position at St. Bonaventure. He shared his initial reaction to the diagnosis and how it prompted reflection on life priorities.

While Wojnarowski stated that the diagnosis wasn't the sole reason for his departure from ESPN, it did provide him with a new perspective. He emphasized the importance of family and close friends, downplaying the significance of his career achievements in the grand scheme of things.
