Former MLB star Johnny Damon, a two-time World Series champion, recently affirmed his support for former President Donald Trump, expressing indifference to potential backlash. During an appearance on OutKick’s "The Ricky Cobb Show," Damon discussed the origins of his relationship with Trump, which predates his presidency. He emphasized his belief in a "fair playing field" and secure borders, echoing some of Trump's key policy positions.

Damon stated his conviction that criminals who are illegal immigrants should be removed from the country and expressed support for tariffs. He also touched on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, suggesting that Trump's attempts at peacemaking with Russia were commendable. The former outfielder framed his political stance as being in the best interest of his eight children, prioritizing their safety and future.

Damon acknowledged that while some might disagree with his views, he remains unperturbed. He highlighted his belief that many, regardless of political affiliation, actually agree with Trump's policies but might take issue with his assertive leadership style. Damon, who endorsed Trump in 2016 and was later appointed to the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition in 2020, stands firm in his political alignment.

He joined other notable figures on the council, including Mariano Rivera, Urban Meyer, Colby Covington, and Troy Vincent.
