Representatives Jim Jordan and Barry Loudermilk have intensified their investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis by demanding documents and communications from her staff concerning any collaboration with the January 6th Committee. This move follows Willis's refusal to cooperate with the committee's initial requests for information, citing attorney-client privilege and other legal protections.
The congressmen sent letters to four key figures within the DA's office: Assistant Chief Investigators Michael Hill and Trina Swanson-Lucas, Chief Senior District Attorney Donald Wakeford, and Deputy District Attorney Will Wooten. The letters specifically request any materials shared between these individuals and representatives of the January 6th Committee, as well as any internal documents referencing such records. The deadline for compliance is February 20th.

This escalation comes after Willis declined to provide documents to the committee in December, claiming they were protected by legal privileges. A similar assertion was made in court when Willis refused to share communications with Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was also investigating alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. A judge had previously ordered Willis to produce these records in response to a lawsuit from the conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, which argued Willis had violated open records laws.

The House Judiciary Committee initiated its investigation into Willis’s potential coordination with the January 6th Committee in December 2023 after learning that Willis's office had reportedly requested evidence from the committee. This action raised concerns about potential coordination between Willis and the committee in their respective investigations of Donald Trump's efforts to challenge the 2020 election outcome in Georgia. Willis had previously charged Trump with various offenses, including racketeering, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, filing false documents, and making false statements, to which Trump pleaded not guilty.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the individuals named in the letters and the DA's office for comment but has not yet received a response.
