Hostage Situation Unfolds at Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas

A dramatic incident unfolded at the Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning as a man took a woman hostage, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. Around 9:15 a.m., the man forced the woman into a hotel room, initiating a tense standoff with law enforcement.

Police spokesman Capt. Steve Connell reported that furniture and other items were thrown from a broken window of the room, landing in the pool area below. Authorities quickly secured the area surrounding the room. While no shots were fired, it remained unclear whether the man was armed.

Associated Press writer John Marshall, who happened to be vacationing at the hotel, witnessed the unfolding events from several floors below. He described a chaotic scene with furniture, including a chair and seat cushions, being hurled from the window over a period of approximately an hour. Marshall noted that the pool area was evacuated as a precaution.

Another guest, Beverly Blackwell, was relaxing by the pool with her husband when the incident began. She recounted hearing shattering glass and seeing curtains billowing from the broken window. Initially fearing an attack, Blackwell and other guests were quickly ushered away from the pool area to safety along Flamingo Road. They were allowed to return to their rooms approximately 30 minutes later.

Police confirmed that there were no immediate reports of injuries in the pool area. While Marshall and his family remained in their room as a precaution, he noted that hotel housekeeping staff continued working in nearby rooms, seemingly undisturbed by the ongoing situation. Hotel representatives did not immediately provide a comment on the incident.
