Early Thursday morning in Yulee, Florida, Hallmark actor Eric Mabius was taken into custody on simple battery charges, according to an arrest record obtained by Fox News Digital. The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. local time at a Nassau County establishment.
Mabius' mugshot appears to show him with a black eye. A police report alleges that Mabius was involved in a physical altercation that resulted in two women being knocked to the ground. He is facing two misdemeanor counts: battery and resisting arrest without violence.
According to a statement from the arresting officer with the Nassau County Sheriff's Department, Mabius allegedly intervened in a situation involving an intoxicated woman who was reportedly disturbing other patrons. The officer's statement indicates that Mabius also knocked down a second woman who was allegedly being harassed by the intoxicated individual. The report further alleges that Mabius then pulled the hair of one of the women while she was on the ground, resulting in a handful of hair being ripped from her scalp. Bystanders intervened and separated those involved.
The intoxicated woman was also arrested. The arresting officer's statement describes Mabius as becoming increasingly uncooperative upon being escorted outside the bar, failing to comply with instructions and attempting to walk away from the officers. Multiple deputies were required to restrain him, leading to the additional charge of resisting arrest without violence.
A witness at the scene corroborated the account of Mabius knocking both women to the ground and stated that he intervened to pull Mabius off them as law enforcement arrived. While the witness declined to press charges related to being allegedly spit on by the intoxicated woman, one of the women involved in the altercation did choose to press charges against both Mabius and the intoxicated woman. Both individuals were subsequently arrested for simple battery.
Mabius is well-known for his role in the Hallmark series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and for portraying Daniel Meade on "Ugly Betty" from 2006 to 2010. Fox News Digital has reached out to Hallmark and representatives for Mabius for comment.
