Former California Deputy Arrested for Alleged Sexual Misconduct and Data Breach

A former deputy sheriff in Placer County, California, was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Jon Persinger, a Rocklin resident, is accused of soliciting prostitution both on and off duty, and of unlawfully accessing law enforcement telecommunications data. The Placer County Sheriff's Office initiated a joint investigation with the Placer County District Attorney on January 12, 2023, after receiving allegations of Persinger's misconduct.

Persinger was placed on administrative leave during the investigation, which revealed alleged incidents of sexual misconduct between September and November 2022. He had been employed with the sheriff's office for four years before his immediate termination following the investigation. Sheriff Wayne Woo emphasized zero tolerance for law enforcement misconduct, stating that the allegations have been reported to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training under Senate Bill 2.
