Conservative Group Urges Bondi to Purge DOJ of 'Woke Radicals'

The American Accountability Foundation (AAF), a conservative research organization, has formally requested that President-elect Trump's Attorney General nominee, Pam Bondi, dismiss several Department of Justice (DOJ) employees. The AAF alleges these individuals are "woke radical leftists and donors" who pose a threat to Trump's agenda. In a letter addressed to both Bondi and Harmett Dhillon, Trump's nominee for Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, the AAF expressed concerns about these employees' ability to uphold election integrity and maintain a neutral civil service. The AAF emphasized the need to replace them with individuals aligned with the "America First" ideology.

The AAF's letter specifically targets DOJ employees Janie Sitton, Catherine Meza, Daniel Freeman, John "Bert" Russ IV, and Dana Paikowsky, outlining their alleged offenses. Sitton is criticized for promoting a "transgender agenda" and donating to left-leaning politicians. The AAF points to a 2000 article by Sitton advocating for "transgender jurisprudence" and questioning traditional gender assignments at birth.

Paikowsky is accused of having ties to Soros-linked organizations and promoting progressive causes, including voting rights for prisoners. The AAF highlights her work with the Open Society Foundations and the Campaign Legal Center, both of which have received funding from George Soros. Meza, an attorney in the voting division, is criticized for her stance on gun control and her alleged accusations of voter intimidation related to mask-wearing and social distancing during the 2020 election. Russ is cited for filing a complaint against Georgia's election integrity laws, which he argued were racially motivated.

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi speaks during a press conference while on a break from President-elect Trump's hush money trial outside Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City on May 21.

This is not the AAF's first attempt to influence personnel decisions within the Trump administration. The group recently targeted "woke" senior officers within the Pentagon. The DOJ's Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division has not yet responded to requests for comment on the AAF's letter.
