A British man, identified as Michael, endured a violent encounter with squatters who had occupied his vacation home in Spain's Costa del Sol. Neighbors alerted Michael, a 52-year-old Liverpool resident, to the unauthorized occupants. Upon arriving and confronting the individuals, he was attacked with a bottle, sustaining cuts to his face, back, and other areas.
According to reports, Michael found his locks changed and had to enter his property through a window. Inside, three men, described as possibly Moroccan, responded to his inquiries with violence. A neighbor recounted the severity of the attack, stating a deeper wound could have been fatal.

The incident, which occurred on May 30, resulted in Michael receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. Local authorities responded to the scene and advised Michael to file a complaint. He provided testimony detailing the attack and the squatters' presence in his home.

The suspects were apprehended on June 8 on suspicion of drug trafficking, electricity fraud, and possession of stolen furniture. The case remains under investigation. Michael has since returned to Liverpool.

This incident highlights the growing problem of squatting in Spain, with laws often perceived as favoring squatters over homeowners. Similar issues have plagued homeowners in the U.S., exacerbated by eviction moratoriums during the pandemic.
