Weeks before his arrest, Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach murders, allegedly engaged in a heated verbal altercation with a former police officer on a Long Island Rail Road train. The former officer, speaking anonymously on "The Ops Desk" podcast, described the encounter as "road rage without the car," claiming Heuermann acted as if he "owned the train." The argument, which began on the train from Massapequa Park, reportedly continued after they arrived at Penn Station in Manhattan, with Heuermann waiting for the former officer at the top of the escalator to renew the verbal assault. The former officer described Heuermann as a "bully" who used his size to intimidate others. Although unrelated to the Gilgo Beach case, the incident offers a glimpse into Heuermann's alleged demeanor. The former officer recognized Heuermann from his mugshot and a now-deleted YouTube interview, noting his distinctive voice and missing front tooth. He ultimately chose to walk away from the confrontation.
